I thought I would share the check presentation photos taken with the Westlake Library. When you see the faces of the people in the organizations we are helping it makes you realize all our hard work was worth it. I can’t thank each of you enough for all the work you did to make this year’s GWG a success. I am hearing glowing reviews from many people. Even a friend that could not attend this year told me we have become “the” lake event of the year, and they plan on attending next year. Not bad for three short years!
In the photo you will see Jim Morrison (chair of the library capital campaign), Marilyn Amerson ( head librarian), me, and Bonnie Johnson (trustee). We will be taking the remaining photos this week at SMLCA and Agape. Hopefully we will get some final publicity for the Gala and exposure for the organizations. BTW these photos were taken by a friend from church, Ken Webber, and they all turned out fabulous. We kept Mark away from the camera that day!

(Smith Mountain Lake, VA, March 10, 2011) On Thursday representatives from Agape and the board of the Grand Winter Gala met at The Little Gallery to celebrate the success of this year’s gala with a donation to Agape. Agape is one of three organizations at the lake designated to receive money raised from the second annual Grand Winter Gala. This year’s gala board will be able to donate a total of $9000 to the three charities, with Agape receiving $4250 from the event. Financial Peace University and SML Christian Academy are the additional beneficiaries of this year’s gala.
The Grand Winter Gala was conceived as an event to bring the lake community together for an elegant evening of fun and fundraising. Each year the Gala committee works with the support of local businesses to bring this affair to the lake and raise money for worthy community charities.
